The Centre for Collective Health Initiatives – CCHI (Cχ) is a public health consultancy that provides technical support to local communities, national governments, and other stakeholders in the healthcare sector in delivering effective interventions that address existing and emerging health needs as well as health inequalities.
The Ebola virus disease (EVD) outbreak in 2014 in West Africa and the COVID-19 global pandemic have laid bare the multi-dimensional complexity of global health problems and the vulnerability of global health systems in tackling emerging pandemics, especially in low and middle-income countries (LMICs). In this global village era, there is an increased risk of disease spill over from one geographical region to another.
Creating resilient healthcare systems
Trade and migration patterns accelerate the spread of pandemics and pose a serious threat to global health security. It is therefore evident, that there is an urgent need to strengthen existing health care and health security systems to enable and complement efforts of stakeholders to address existing health needs and respond to emerging disease outbreaks more effectively.
Stronger health systems require strengthened capacity at the community, national, regional, and international levels. Therefore, as a key strategy, we will intentionally seek to partner with national and international stakeholders to ensure a robust and resilient public health sector in Sierra Leone.
